Saturday morning after the kids left Ron and I went out to Pancake Circus for breakfast and then invaded Jason and Chris again. It was good we were back as Chris was not feeling well due to some medication she was on so we were able to offer an extra hand. We slipped back into a comfortable routine. We went for a Pediatrician visit and checked out a potential daycare placement for C.J. which was in the neighborhood. Chris also had some meetings and interviews for a job that she had been offered and since accepted at CCST* (California Council on Science and Technology - I'll add some info on the job and the organization at the end of this post). It will give her more flexibility and there will be no overtime, unlike finance, so this will be much better for the family. Ron and I wanted Jason and Chris to get out to dinner again by themselves but they hadn't been feeling well. Since we were fine, we went out to a Moroccan restaurant and had a delicious meal. Jason's cold got worse and with his asthma he ended up in the ER with a diagnosis of Bronchitis. On our last evening, since everyone still wasn't up for going out, we had a take out meal from Vallejo's. Alex came over to join us for the carnitas, flautas, rice, beans, guacamole etc. - Que rico. Thinking about leaving makes us sad but I remember we left our family to go to NC. Maybe, like us, Chris, Jason and C.J. will at least move closer someday. I think they are used to the California weather though and it might be tough to come back to NY.

OUR MISSION
To engage leading experts in science
and technology to advise State policymakers - ensuring that California
policy is strengthened and informed by scientific knowledge, research,
and innovation.
Updated with text from 2015 Annual Report on 2/10/16
CCST is a nonpartisan, impartial, not-for-profit organization established via an Assembly Concurrent Resolution (ACR 162) in 1988
to provide objective advice from California's best scientists and
research institutions on policy issues involving science. We are modeled
after the National Academies
- the official scholarly body serving the United States of America - to
provide the State of California with a parallel network of
institutional and individual advisors.
California's policies are stronger with science,
and CCST is uniquely qualified as an organization created via the
Legislature to convene a Statewide network of experts across disciplines
and institutions.
As this coordinating body, CCST can provide impartial expertise that extends beyond the resources or perspective of any single institution.
We offer State policymakers the increased ability to conduct analytical
assessments and to arrive at informed decisions on complex science and
technology issues affecting Californians.
CCST operates in partnership with, as
well as receives financial and mission support, from a network of
public and private higher-education institutions and major Federally
funded laboratories:
Our Sustaining Institutions:
The University of California (UC) System
The California State University (CSU) System
California Community Colleges (CCC)
Stanford University
California Institute of Technology (Caltech)
Our Federal National Laboratory Affiliates:
Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory
Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory
Sandia National Laboratories (California)
SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory
NASA Ames Research Center
NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory
