Trip to Niagara Falls - Day Two - Friday, October 20, 2017

Yesterday at the Thruway stop there was a booth that had tours of Niagara Falls so Ron took the information and last night we decided that we would play tourist today. We went back to NFCI for our breakfast - I had a croissant with ham and fontina cheese and Ron had an everything bagel - delish.  The tour bus picked us up at the hotel and we had a great day. We went to the Cave of the Winds and enjoyed the interactive display and the short movie. Then we got our ponchos and proceeded to get wet and see the power of the falls. We went to Goat Island, Three Sisters Island, Luna Island,  Devil's Hole, the Whirlpool, and saw the Robert Moses Power Plant. Although Ron and I had both been to the falls we had never done the Maid of the Mist or the Cave of the Winds and we would suggest it to anyone.  The Maid of the Mist was so impressive. Now we have more things to cross off of our bucket list. Our tour guide was very nice. The tour was supposed to be 4 hours and this was his only tour of the day and almost the last one of the year so he took us to extra places and it was about a 5 hour tour. No one in the group had to be anywhere at a specific time so it worked out great. At the end of our tour he suggested that we go to the Seneca Casino and sign up for a players card. By doing that you got a free buffet worth $22 a person. We didn't gamble but did have a wonderful meal.  From there headed back to Ron's parents. This was like a mini-pre vacation since we leave for the Azores in a couple of days. We are flying from Buffalo to Boston so it didn't make sense to go home. Looking forward to another adventure. Life is Good!
